In this study, the correlation and interaction between spectral indices were analyzed to assess the state of the land surface in the Ishtikhan district. The study was carried out based on Sentinel-2 satellite images dated May 2025. The data were processed on the Google Earth Engine platform, and the NDVI, SAVI, NDMI, NDWI, BSI and NDBI indices were calculated, and the results were spatially analyzed in the ArcGIS program. The results showed that the NDVI index had an inverse relationship with the BSI and NDBI indices, and a positive relationship with NDMI. This indicates that as vegetation cover increases, the degree of soil openness and urbanization decreases, and the humidity level increases. At the same time, no significant relationship was found between the NDVI and NDWI indices, which indicates that vegetation processes in the region are mainly formed through irrigation systems. The results of the study showed that the relationship between spectral indices is of a differential nature. The proposed multi-index approach serves as an effective tool for comprehensive assessment of the ecological state of the earth’s surface, identification of degradation processes, and territorial planning.
