Аннотатсия
The Turkestan Department of the Russian Geographical Society (TD RGS), founded in 1897, played a significant role in the study of Central Asia. Its scientific activities covered geographical, ethnographic, archaeological, historical, hydrological, biological and economic research. Members of the department conducted expeditions, mapping, studied peoples and their culture, explored the natural resources and climate of the region. The results of the work of the TD RGS contributed to the development of science and the systematization of knowledge about the Turkestan region.
